EADS Casa to deliver C-295s to Chilean navy

EADS Casa will deliver at least three C-295 transports equipped with a maritime patrol and search and rescue sensor suite to the Chilean navy.

The new contract, which includes an option to buy five more aircraft, raises the total orders for C-295s to 58 aircraft and eight operators, of which 37 have already entered service.

Chile's fleet will be equipped with a mission system called the Fully Integrated Tactical System (FITS), which can be integrated with undisclosed sensors for the maritime patrol and search and rescue mission.
