Thai cabinet nod for B7.7bn to buy arms, equipment

The cabinet yesterday approved the Defence Ministry's request to borrow 7.7 billion baht for weapons and equipment procurement for the armed forces and the ministry.

The approval involves tied-over budget obligations for the government over the next four years.

Assistant government spokesman Natthawat Sutthiyothin said the cabinet go-ahead yesterday finalised the Defence Ministry's request for the projects which the cabinet had approved in principle on Feb 20 this year.
