Lockheed Martin gets Norwegian Navy work

Lockheed Martin Corp. said Tuesday that the Navy has awarded it a $23 million contract to provide follow-on technical and logistics support to the five Royal Norwegian Navy F310-class frigates that will be equipped with Aegis weapons systems.

Lockheed's MS2 unit, based in Moorestown, N.J., will provide the support, which is meant to maintain and enhance the Aegis' performance and operational effectiveness.

The lead ship in the Norwegian Navy's program completed combat system ship qualification trials conducted with the United States and Spain in June. In May, the second ship was commissioned and the third ship was launched.
