India: First of 6 Scorpene will roll out by ’12

The first of the six Scorpene class submarine of French design being built by Mazgaon Dock Ltd will be ready by December 2012, and the rest will be ready by 2018.

Releasing its results for the year 2006-07, the company, which holds mini-ratna status, said that it has an order book of Rs 25,000 crores for naval projects.

The projects include three Stealth frigates, three destroyers and six Scorpene class Submarines of French design. The frigates and destroyers are under different stages of construction and the production of the first submarine commenced in December 2006.
