J-STARS closer to maritime duties

Joint STARS has a proven track record for detecting, identifying and directing the destruction of ground targets.

That capability will soon include maritime operations if new software and hardware updates continue to fare well in testing.

Northrop Grumman, the Air Force's Joint STARS prime contractor, has completed a successful first test flight incorporating sea-capable, next-generation tracking to the current radar and navigation subsystems.
