Venezuela seriously thinking about Russian submarines

The Venezuelan government weighs the potential purchase of Russian submarines, acknowledged Thursday General Alberto Müller Rojas, the Chief of Staff advisor to President Hugo Chávez.

"That possibility is being pondered, but so far no funds have been allotted so such deal," Müller told AP when queried about news from a Russian newspaper.

According to the notice published on financial daily Kommersant, Russia would sell Venezuela five diesel, Project 636, submarines. President Chávez would sign a related agreement next June 29th during a visit to Moscow.
