Morocco is reportedly close to a deal for the purchase of French-made fighters capable of ranging over the vast expanses of the disputed Western Sahara. The deal between Morocco and Dassault Aviation would come on the heels of negotiations at the United Nations that failed to break the stalemate between Morocco and the separatist Polisario Front that seeks independence for the desert region.
While there has been no official announcement that the deal has been sealed, the MENL news service reported this week that the two sides had settled on a price for up to 20 Rafale fighters.
