Russia’s strategic forces to launch two heavy ballistic missiles

Russia’s Strategic Missile Troops are preparing the launches of two heavy ballistic missiles of the Voyevoda family /Satan under NATO classification/, Colonel-General Solovtsov, the commander of the troops said at a news conference Tuesday.

As he answered a question by Itar-Tass, he said: “Our troops plan making a big enough number of combat training launches of ballistic from the launch-pads at Plessetsk, Baikonur, Kapustin Yar and Yasny this year, and the purposes of each launch are multiple.”

“These are the extension of service life of the missiles, the testing of new types of combat equipment and new types of missile complexes, and delivery of payloads into space,” Gen Solovtsov said.
