Pakistan Receives Eight Helicopter Gunships From US

AH-1 Cobra helicopter gunshipThe United States on Friday delivered eight helicopter gunships to the aviation wing of Pakistan's army to enhance its fighting capabilities in counter-terrorism operations.

US Ambassador Ryan C Crocker handed over the all-weather Cobra attack aircraft to Pakistani Defence Secretary Tariq Waseem Ghazi in the city of Rawalpindi, state-run Pakistan Television said.

The United States is due to provide a total of 20 helicopters to the Pakistani military under its security assistance programme.
