Northrop Grumman Gets $104.7M NATO Pact

LIARCM Development ProcessNorthrop Grumman Corp. said Monday it received a $104.6 million contract to outfit 17 NATO aircraft with the company's Large Aircraft Infrared Countermeasures (LAIRCM) systems.

Under terms of the contract with the Air Force's Electronic Systems Center, on behalf of NATO's Airborne Early Warning and Control Program Management Organization, Northrop Grumman will begin deliveries in 2007, with final deliveries expected in 2009.

Integration of the LAIRCM system on the NE-3A aircraft will give NATO the newest infrared countermeasures technology, providing warfighters and AWACS aircraft with protection against shoulder-fired missile threats.
