F-35 Lightning II
The Air Force is considering purchasing F-35 Lightening II fighter jets of the U.S. Lockheed Martin as part of its second-phase aircraft procurement project beginning next year, a top Air Force official said yesterday.
During a National Assembly inspection of the Defense Ministry, Lt. Gen. Kim Eun-ki, deputy chief of the Air Force, said the fifth-generation multi-role aircraft featuring radar-evading stealth technology is a possible candidate to compete with Boeing¡¯s F-15K fighters for the country¡¯s $2-billion-worth project to buy 20 more combat aircraft between 2007 and 2011.
