Elta wins $400m. in deals at Paris trade show

EL/M-2248 Multi-Function Surveillance, Tracking and Missile Guidance (MF-STAR)The EuroNaval 2006 naval defense and maritime safety trade show proved to be a success for Israel Aircraft Industries subsidiary Elta Systems Group, as the Ashdod-based company nabbed over $400 million worth of contracts at the event.

In the largest of the deals announced by Elta over the weekend, Elta will upgrade an undisclosed customer's naval flagships with its EL/M-2248 Multi-Function Surveillance, Tracking and Missile Guidance (MF-STAR) for an estimated $200m.

The defense electronics company also was awarded an $80m. contract to provide its EL/M-2238 Three-Dimensional Surveillance, and Threat Alert (3-D STAR) and EL/M-2221 Search, Track and Guidance/Gunnery Radar (STGR) radars to upgrade an unnamed customer's frigates, and will supply its Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) mounted on airborne platforms to several customers for a total $59m.
