Mys: Sukhoi's Spare Parts To Arrive Before Planes

The problem of spare parts delivery for Russian-made aircraft purchased by Malaysia will not be an issue with the soon-to-be-delivered Sukhoi Su-30MKM jet fighters.

This is because the spare parts are due to arrive before the planes, according to Sukhoi's special adviser to the general director, Aleskey A. Poveshchenko.

"There will be a special provision for spare parts in our contract, so spare parts and ground equipment will be supplied from this year," he told Bernama in an interview at the Defence Services Asia exhibition here Tuesday.

He said by the time the planes arrive next year, there would be enough spare parts and necessary ground equipment to operate them.

On whether the company would make it possible to place orders for its aircraft's spare parts online as with major US military aircraft companies, Poveshchenko said: "I know that the special logistics unit in our company is thinking of means to expedite the supply of spare parts and Internet sales may be one of the options."
