CF-18s Conduct 1st Northern Sovereignty patrol for Canada Command

On Good Friday, two CF-18’s from 4 Wing, Cold Lake conducted the first ever, aerial sovereignty patrol in Canada’s North for Canada Command.

The fighters and support crews deployed to a forward operating location in Inuvik on Wednesday 12 April to conduct a routine NORAD mission. Once that mission was complete the aircraft and crews turned their attention to providing an air presence in Canada’s North in support of Canada Command. The CF-18’s were supported by a CC-130 Tanker, refueling aircraft from 17 Wing Winnipeg and flew a route between Inuvik and Cambridge Bay.
