New Missiles At Ellsworth AFB

The B-1 bombers at Ellsworth Air Force Base will soon cary more fighting power. It just received a shipment of a newly developed missile. The Joint Air-To-Surface Standoff missile...or JASSM took years to develop. Just one costs $300,000.00. It weighs more than 2,000 pounds and is rocket-powered.

The cruise missile will help B-1 Bombers stay out of harms way. The batch of missiles is unlike anything Ellsworth Air Force Base has ever had.

Tech Sergeant Kevin Aipperspach said, "It allows the pilot to drop off the munitions from quite a distance off. It will then fly its self in following a GPS point to the target we need to destroy. This cuts down on collateral damage."
