Iran to Equip Navy with New Missile Frigates, Destroyers

IRIS Damavand (F 77)Iran’s Navy has plans to bring a range of new equipment into service until March 2017, Navy Commander Rear Admiral Habibollah Sayyari announced, saying that the homegrown military watercraft will transfix the world.

During a recent visit to Shiraz Electronics Industries plant, Sayyari said the new naval gear include missile-launching warships, new destroyers, as well as squadrons of vessels and submarines, which will be launched until March 2017.

“This major move, which signifies the Islamic Republic of Iran’s self-sufficiency in supplying the naval defense equipment, will certainly once again stun the world,” the commander added.
