U.S. Navy selects Lockheed Martin Syracuse for sonar systems to hunt submarines

Zumwalt (DDG 1000) class DDGThe U.S. Navy has placed a $27.2 million order with Lockheed Martin in Salina for seven towed-array sonar systems that enable surface ships to hunt and attack submarines.

The Navy exercised it latest option on a September 2013 contract with Lockheed Martin that is worth up to $199 million.

The previous contract option in May 2014 was for production of nine multi-function towed arrays valued at $31.7 million.
