Malmstrom implements changes; MANG adjusts to C-130s

Deactivated ICBM siloThe two major military installations in Great Falls are both facing changes with the shadow of continued budget uncertainty under sequestration.

The 120th Airlift Wing of the Montana Air National Guard is continuing its conversion to C-130s cargo-carrying aircraft from fighter jets and is scheduled to reach full operational capacity in 2016.

Construction on a new hangar is underway and once that is finished, an existing hangar will be renovated to accommodate the C-130, which are significantly larger than the F-15s previously flown by the unit.
