RFA Fort Victoria moved from Cammell Laird refit home to Princes Dock ahead of sea trials

RFA Fort VictoriaRoyal Fleet Auxillary vessel the Fort Victoria which is in the final stages of a £49.5m refit at the Cammell Laird shipyard in Birkenhead was moved across to Liverpool’s Princes Dock ahead of sea trials tomorrow.

Late last year, Cammell Laird said it was close to completing the refit of the RFA Fort Victoria, one of the biggest RFA vessels. The job has seen 450 employees work for 10 months on the ship.

At 28,821 gross tons and 204m long, Fort Victoria is bigger than the aircraft carrier HMS Illustrious. Her job is to supply the Navy’s warships with fuel, food, ammunition and any other stores anywhere in the world.
