HAL hands over indigenous fighter jet Tejas to IAF after 32 years

Tejas LCAAfter a delay of 32 years, country's sole military aircraft manufacturer Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) on Saturday handed over the Tejas Series Production-1 (LCA-SP1) to Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar and Air Chief Marshal Anup Raha at a low-key ceremony in Bengaluru.

The Indian Air Force (IAF), which has waited long enough and had issues with the LCA in the past, will now finally use the indigenously-built Light Combat Aircraft.

On January 10, 2011 when the aircraft got its initial operational clearance, then chief of air staff Air chief Marshal P V Naik had said he won't let his boys fly it as it wasn't ready for them.
