Kenyan fighter jet crashes in al-Shabaab territory near Kismayo

F-5 Tiger IIA Kenyan fighter jet crashed near Kismayo Thursday (December 4th) while returning from a combat mission in southern Somalia, Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) spokesperson Colonel David Obonyo confirmed.

"A KDF aircraft, while returning from a combat mission in Somalia, regrettably crashed within enemy territory," Obonyo said in a statement sent to Sabahi.

"Al-Shabaab militia reached the site of the crashed aircraft and set it on fire," he said. "The fate of the pilot remains unknown. We classify him as still missing in action."
