The Thai and Chinese air forces will hold their first joint training session for pilots later this month, paving the way for a full military exercise between the forces in future. Defence Minister Prawit Wongsuwon said Thursday the two sides have been working on the plan for some time. The proposal was finally approved by Chinese Defence Minister Chang Wanquan during Gen Prawit's visit to China at the end of last month.
China will send four pilots to be trained in Thailand, while Thailand will send four pilots to be trained in China. They will use each other's jets. The exchange pilots will take a back seat, learning from the host country's pilots, who will command the planes.
