As the issue pertaining to violations of the Intermediate Range Nuclear Forces (INF) Treaty between the US and Russia heats up, Russia is pointing its finger at the United States in its plans to deploy MK 41 Vertical Missile Launch Systems (VLS) in Romania and Poland.
Under the INF treaty, both the US and Russia are prohibited from developing ground-launched cruise and ballistic missiles with ranges 500-5500km.
The launch system in question is employed by US Navy warships for storing and launching naval missiles and is claimed to be the “worldwide standard in ship-borne missile launching systems.”
