Russia To Develop AEW Aircraft A-100 Based On Upgraded Il-76MD-90A

Il-76MD-90ARussia’s Beriev is preparing a new airborne early warning variant of Ilyushin’s upgraded transport aircraft, the Il-76MD-90A, fitted with the new Vega Premier radar system in a rotating antenna, Rostec reported Wednesday.

Russian Ilyushin Il-76MD-90A military cargo plane has completed its maiden flight and will become the platform for a future long-range radar detection and control prototype plane, A-100. Concern Vega a part of the United Instrument Corporation, has developed a radar system for the new plane.

The new aircraft was tested for in-flight controllability and stability, the performance of engines, onboard systems and equipment.
