Plymouth would be asked to hand over two major warships to Scotland in the event of a 'yes' vote on independence, it has been revealed.

Yes, they are entitled to a share of the equipment as they have paid for a percentage of them in taxes.
ReplyDeleteA couple of T23 frigates, opv's,perhaps a couple of minehunters and a surplus to requirements RFA as far as the maritime requirement is concerned. Even than they going to have trouble manning them. As far as them wanting personel, that is a ludicrous demand, these people have signed up to serve the UK and in particular the Queen.
Perhaps an offer could be made saying that if personel wished to transfer it could be arranged. Although I can't see any specialisation that is undermanned being allowed to transfer.
They are talking about wanting sixteen typhoons, which I doubt they will get, and with the limited scope for flying and/or deployements, I doubt very many pilots will wish to transfer.
Salmond has no idea of what the costs will be to run and maintain a Scottish defence force, it is going to come as rather a shock to him.
The whole shebang will likely end up deteriorating due to lack of maintainence and use. As they will be all ex UK equipment he will then need to buy spares from the rUK, I really don't think he has thought it through at all in his headlong rush to destroy the UK for his own personal aggrandizement.
I hoper fervently that they stay in the UK, not least to see the silly smug smile wiped off his face.
