The Canadian government is spending more than $200 million to ensure that the RCAF’s CP-140 Aurora surveillance aircraft are protected against enemy missile attacks.
Canada will purchase from the U.S. government what is called a Large Aircraft Infrared Countermeasures (LAIRCM) system.
The Royal Canadian Air Force has requested six of the systems for the Aurora aircraft; the deal includes sensors to warn of an approaching missile and devices to counter that, as well as spare parts and training.
