NAVAIR Orders Electronic Support Measures for French Navy E-2Cs

E-2C HawkeyeNorthrop Grumman has been awarded a Naval Air Systems Command contract for engineering and development of five ALQ-217 electronic support measures (ESM) systems for the French Navy’s three E-2C Hawkeye radar early warning aircraft.

Airborne Early Warning & Electronic Warfare Systems, Bethpage, N.Y., a unit of Northrop Grumman Systems Corp., has been awarded a $47.6 million cost-plus-fixed-fee delivery order for non-recurring engineering and development of five AN/ALQ-217 ESM sets under the Foreign Military Sales program.

Under the order, Northrop Grumman will provide hardware and software modifications of the ALQ-217 required for compatibility with the French E-2C aircraft, as well as “modification kits, aircrew and maintenance training, publications, post-installation ground and flight testing, and technical data,” according to a Defense Department announcement.
