Peru augmenting blue water capabilities with replenishment ship

HNLMS AmsterdamThe Peruvian Navy (MGP) acquired the 17,040-ton HNLMS Amsterdam replenishment ship from the Royal Netherlands Navy in June.

Amsterdam was originally launched in 1995 and will be replaced in Dutch service by the Joint Logistics Support Ship HNLMS Karel Doorman .

The acquisition is part of the MGP's force modernisation programme that seeks to bolster Peru's naval patrol and power projection capabilities by 2025.
