Kiev says Ukrainian fighter jets shot down from Russian territory

Su-25 FrogfootTwo Ukrainian fighter jets have been shot down in the rebel-held area where Malaysia Airlines flight MH17 crashed, allegedly by missiles fired from Russian soil.

“According to preliminary information, the rockets were launched from Russian territory,’’ Ukraine’s National Security and Defence Council claimed.

The planes came down close to the village of Dmytrivka, some 45 kilometres southeast of the MH17 crash site, towards the Russian border, as they were providing air support for government infantry against separatist rebels, the statement said.
