Indian Navy gets first indigenous anti-submarine warfare corvette

INS KamortaIndian Navy has received INS Kamorta, the country's first indigenous anti-submarine warfare (ASW) corvette, built by Kolkata-based Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers Ltd. (GRSE).

The warship was formally handed over by GRSE chairman and managing director Rear Admiral (Retd) A K Verma to the Navy at a brief ceremony held at Kolkata on July 12.

INS Kamorta, the first in its class of four ASW corvettes being built by GRSE under Project-28 for the Navy, is the first warship ever built in the country with almost 90 per cent of indigenous content.
