Turkey scrambles fighter jets to intercept Iranian aircraft

Turkey F-16'sTurkey scrambled two F-16 fighter jets to intercept an Iranian military plane that briefly crossed into Turkish airspace over the eastern province of Iğdır, bordering Iran, the military said on Sunday.

The Iranian reconnaissance plane violated Turkey's airspace on Saturday for 20 seconds and left the area after the military dispatched F-16s to intercept it, according to a written statement from the General Staff.

The statement also said four F-16s conducted patrols on the Turkey-Syria border on Saturday.
