A local company's award-winning anti-torpedo gear is aboard the carrier deployed to the Persian Gulf last week as the Iraqi crisis escalated. Pacific Engineering Inc., which has offices at 1074 Saltillo Road, was one of 25 high-tech small businesses presented with a 2014 Tibbetts Award from the Small Business Administration this week.
The Tibbetts Awards are given annually to small businesses and individuals who participate in the SBA's Small Business Innovation Research and Small Business Technology Transfer programs. They are named after Roland Tibbetts, who developed the SBIR program.
