Sixteen MiG-29SMT multirole fighters will join the Russian Air Force in 2015-2016 under a contract concluded earlier, MiG General Director Sergei Korotkov said at the KADEX 2014 weapons exhibition in Astana on Saturday.
"We are supposed to complete the contract in 2016. Eight planes will be shipped next year and another eight in 2016," he said.
It was reported earlier that the Russian Defense Ministry and MiG had concluded a contract for 16 MiG-29SMTs. The ministry press service said the contract, including ground service facilities and monitoring equipment, was worth over 17 billion rubles.
