China is developing an advanced guided missile cruiser that represents a major step forward in Beijing’s large-scale naval warfare buildup.Images of a land-based mock-up of the new warship were disclosed recently on the Chinese Internet.
The ship has been identified as the first cruiser called Type 055.
In general, cruisers are bigger than destroyers, but smaller than battleships.

China must have better and more offensive missiles to deter the US.The US can easily send China to the stone or crawl age if it so desires.The problem is the price keeps rising.

Since the end of ww2,the US has been the dominant military power engaging in mumerous wars .The enemies can only hit back on the battle field.During the Korean war the Chinese forces could only engage US forces under the guise of the UN banner

All good things must come to an end. The PLA aint going to start a war.They are building up the military so that there won't be any Kosovo.desert storm,etc where US bases were immune from enemy fire.
There is no doubt the US can prevail over China but the price will be mammoth.The PLA missiles will make absolutely sure there wont be any sanctuary for US forces as well as the mainland US.
Get real. Carriers launching tomahawk and other missiles risk being sunk to the ocean depths.One US commentator has said such an action will risk US nuclear attack.The PLA are prepared for
this scenario and have their own nw to retaliate.
