Vikramaditya Brings Russian Culture to Karwar, Irks Locals

INS VikramadityaA group of Russians who arrived here with the aircraft carrier INS Vikramaditya a week ago have caused an uproar among the locals by their behaviour.

On Saturday, around 50 Russians, who were not briefed by the Navy about the rules and regulations here, ventured out of the aircraft carrier and were drinking alcohol in public and going around the beach naked.

As there are no changing rooms at the Rabindranath Tagore beach in Karwar, they had to change at the seashore itself before going for a swim. Further, there are not many pubs and restaurants at the town, and unlike in Goa, there are no beach shacks too.
