The Tula-based instrument-building design bureau, KBP, plans to test the Pantsir-S1 combined short to medium range surface-to-air missile and anti-aircraft artillery system beyond the Polar Circle, KBP's first deputy managing director, Nikolai Khokhlov, told reporters on Monday."The state defense order for Pantsir-S1 systems for the Arctic region has been placed. The domestic variant, with different temperature diagnostics, will be used for the Russian armed forces, unlike the systems exported to the United Arab Emirates and other countries," Khokhlov said.
Following tests beyond the Polar Circle, Pantsir-S1 systems will be assigned for use in the Arctic, he said.
