HC Nod to Scrap INS Vikrant

INS VikrantIt is finally curtains down on India’s first aircraft carrier INS Vikrant, as the Bombay High Court has given the Navy its go-ahead to scrap it.

The High Court on Thursday dismissed a public interest litigation (PIL) seeking directions to the Union Government to convert the carrier in to a maritime museum.

A Division Bench of Chief Justice Mohit Shah and Justice M S Sanklecha rejected the PIL filed by Kiran Paigankar, holding that the Navy’s decision to scrap the decommissioned aircraft carrier could not be termed unreasonable or arbitrary.
