Former U.S. Air Force General suggests Korea split fighter jet purchase


With Korea essentially going back to square one on its multi-billion dollar fighter jet project after it turned down Boeing's F-15 Silent Eagle, a former top U.S. Air Force general has spoken up, suggesting Seoul split its planned purchase of 60 jets.

Ronald Fogleman , who now works as a consultant for Boeing, recommends Korea buy 40 Boeing F-15s and 20 Lockheed Martin F-35s.

The initial bidding process broke down after Seoul turned down Boeing's tender for 60 F-15s due to skepticism over its lack of stealth functions.
