The U.S. Defense Security Cooperation Agency notified Congress Thursday of plans to sell the Government of Tunisia upgraded avionics from Northrop Grumman to improve the performance of Tunisian F-5E/F Tiger II fighter aircraft.Including the cost of necessary equipment, parts, training, and logistical support, the total value of this arms sale is put at $60 million.
DSCA noted that the upgraded aircraft "will improve Tunisia's capability to deter regional threats and strengthen its homeland defense, as well as support counter-terrorism operations," thus contributing to "the foreign policy and national security of the United States by helping to improve the security of a friendly country in North Africa."
