ITT Exelis to supply antennas for international ballistic missile defense efforts

Standard Missile-3 (SM-3)ITT Exelis has been selected by Raytheon Company to supply antenna subsystems for the Standard Missile-3 (SM-3) program.

The Exelis antennas will be fielded as part of SM-3 Block IIA, a cooperative development program between the U.S. Department of Defense and the Ministry of Defense of Japan, scheduled to be deployed in 2018.

Employed as part of the Aegis Ballistic Missile Defense System, the SM-3 will provide interception capability against short, medium and intermediate-range ballistic missiles.
