French Cruise Missile Successful in First Firing Test

Missile de Croisière NavalThe new cruise missile built for the French Navy has completed the first qualification test firing last week.

The naval cruise missile (MdCN or Missile de Croisière Naval) is under development by MBDA under contract from the defense armament directorate DGA (Direction Générale de l’Armement) awarded 2006.

It successfully carried out the firing test on July 1st, 2013. The test, representing a vertical launch from a frigate, took place at the DGA’s Biscarrosse missile test centre.
