MOD spending figures reveal nuclear ambitions

The Westminster system has made clear their disinterest in even considering the merits of nuclear disarmament in MoD spending figures released last week.

“In response to a parliamentary question on nuclear disarmament-related research spending, it was revealed that last year only £2.125 million (0.005%) of the MoD budget was directed toward developing expertise on non-nuclear alternatives.

This can be compared to the £1.95 billion spent annually on the in-service costs of running Trident and the nearly £1.4 billion already spent on early design work for Trident replacement submarines.
