MOD spending figures reveal nuclear ambitions

Vanguard-class |The Westminster system has made clear their disinterest in even considering the merits of nuclear disarmament in MoD spending figures released last week.

“In response to a parliamentary question on nuclear disarmament-related research spending, it was revealed that last year only £2.125 million (0.005%) of the MoD budget was directed toward developing expertise on non-nuclear alternatives.

This can be compared to the £1.95 billion spent annually on the in-service costs of running Trident and the nearly £1.4 billion already spent on early design work for Trident replacement submarines.
