Since its departure on January 29, 2013 from a naval port in Qingdao of east China's Shandong province, the ship formation of the Navy of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) passed through the areas under the jurisdiction of the three PLA naval fleets, namely the North China Sea Fleet, the East China Sea Fleet and the South China Sea Fleet, the Miyako Channel and Bashi Channel, and carried out the combat readiness patrol and high-sea training in waters of the Nansha Islands, the Xisha Islands and the Western Pacific Ocean.
The "Qingdao" guided missile destroyer and the "Yantai" and "Yancheng" guided missile frigates demonstrated good equipment performance under the conditions of full load, high intensity and continuous use, achieving a record of zero major equipment failure.
