The Ministry of Defence is to now write to arms companies warning them against trying to use former senior military staff to lobby for contracts.
Philip Hammond, the Defence Secretary, yesterday warned former chiefs that access to the department could be “shut down” if any abuses are proven.
It came after a number of retired military leaders, including Lord Dannatt, the ex-head of the Army, and Lieutenant-General Sir John Kiszely, former head of the Defence Academy, were caught up in a "generals for hire" newspaper sting.

A two year ban on lobbying is a joke. It should be a permanent ban and strictly enforced. But the people writing the rules are just waiting for their turn at the money trough. It's worse in America.
