Navy resumes anti-piracy patrols after two-month hiatus

SAS Amatola |After an absence of two months, the South African Navy has resumed anti-piracy patrols off the coast of Mozambique.

The frigate SAS Amatola sailed from Durban harbour yesterday to begin her latest three-month anti-piracy deployment in the waters of Tanzania and the Mozambique Channel.

The Navy has maintained an anti-piracy patrol in the Mozambique Channel since early 2011, under Operation Copper.
