Barrow's Astute is hailed as ‘best sub ever’

[HMS Astute]Commanding Officer Iain Breckenridge was praising HMS Astute following her return to the UK after a four-month exercise in the Atlantic.

The boat, which was built in Barrow and launched in 2007, is the Royal Navy’s most advanced submarine.

Her crew have spent the last four months undergoing sea trials which included taking on the US Navy’s USS New Mexico in a series of war games.
