Arrival of parts puts SA firm on warship footing

Air Warfare DestroyerSix launch systems to enable the first of the air warfare destroyers, HMAS Hobart, to store and fire missiles have arrived in Osborne.

AWD Alliance chief executive Rod Equid said it was a milestone delivery for the $8 billion project to build three Hobart-class AWDs.

The MK 41 vertical launch system (VLS) modules are vital to the vessel's combat system, creating 48 cells for storing and launching missiles from the ship.
