Russian Defense Ministry signs submarine construction deal

K-329 Severodvinsk (Yasen class)Russia’s Defense Minister Anatoly Serdyukov signed a contract with the United Shipbuilding Corporation on Wednesday for construction of new Yasen and Borey class submarines.

Prime Minister Vladimir Putin was present at the signing ceremony.

The Defense Ministry signed a contract with the St Peterburg-based Malakit shipbuilder for construction of a Project 885 Yasen class attack submarine at the Sevmash shipyard in Severodvinsk.
