New multi-purpose nuclear sub back from trials

Graney-classRussia’s first Graney-class nuclear powered submarine “Severodvinsk” has returned to base after successful trials in the Arctic.

According to Sevmash shipyard, all tests of the submarine’s systems and installations went according to plan, ITAR-TASS reports.

“Severodvinsk” will continue trials after all identified deviations have been eliminated. If the sea trails are successful, the submarine is expected to enter service with the navy by the end of this year, as previously reported by BarentsObserver.
